I read the news about Universal Audio’s UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop yesterday. It’s an interesting product to use on the go. 1-DSP chip in a pocket-sized ExpressCard to power up laptop is many people look for. No break-out box, no cable, no external power adaptor, these make perfect mobile solution. But, what has just happened to ExpressCard slot on MacBook Pro?
Early this month, Apple revealed (what they called) an upgrade of MacBook Pro line, comprise of 13,15 and 17-inch model. One of the changes presented on WWDC’09 stage is SD-card slot to replace ExpressCard slot in 13 and 15-inch MBP. So now there’s only 17″MBP has ExpressCard slot.
Let’s have a look in all images and videos of UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop in UAudio website, Apple’s MacBook Pro is showing everywhere. As we all know, Apple’s notebook is widely used in audio professional, and UAD-2 is aimed to this target as well. I realize it takes time to put any product into production. I’m curious about how UA feel once they watched WWDC’09.
Although I don’t know how high the target UA set for this product, I think the remaining of ExpressCard slot in only one model of Apple MBP effects UA one way or another.
